RTFKT Studios, which is owned by Nike, has added another.eth domain name to its increasing number of Ethereum Name Service (ENS) NFTs. Artifacts.eth, RTFKT.eth, Drmos.eth, MintVial.eth, Dreamos.eth, SpaceDrip.eth, DripCoin.eth, and M2tekno.eth are among the ten domains purchased for 19.72 ETH (about $35,000 at the time of the transaction).
The rationale for the dotswoosh.eth acquisition remains a mystery, although rumors about Nike’s plans to issue subdomains in the future are circulating on Twitter. This means that anyone with a crypto-related domain, such as YOUR NAME.dotswoosh.eth, could personalize it under dotswoosh.eth.
The price of 19.72 ETH on dotswoosh.eth is linked to the year 1972, when Nike’s trademark swoosh emblem first appeared on the brand’s apparel line. The dotswoosh.eth NFT, which can be seen on RTFKT’s OpenSea account, is currently adorned with swoosh.
When it comes to its myriad linked names and emblems, Nike is fiercely guarded. The brand just filed a slew of metaverse applications for its Nike, Nikeland, Just Do It, Nike swoosh, and Jumpman emblems last year. That’s why the Twitter reports about Nike and RTFKT monetizing subdomains in addition to promoting their brands look believable.
