Madonna is getting deeply into BAYC world
Singer-songwriter Madonna confirmed on Instagram on March 24 that she had bought Bored Ape #4988.
With her BAYC purchase, Madonna said to her 17.8 million Instagram followers that she had “finally entered the metaverse.” Additionally, she requested suggestions for a name for Bored Ape #4988. Last but not least, Madonna thanked the fiat-to-crypto network MoonPay for assisting her in obtaining this priceless NFT.

The 180 ETH Purchase
The Bored Ape Gazette claims that on March 14th, MoonPay purchased Bored Ape #4988 for Madonna for 180 ETH. Bored Ape #4988 cost around $464,400 at the time of sale. On March 23, MoonPay sent this DMT fur Bored Ape to Madonna’s OpenSea wallet.
For some time, there have been reports that Madonna was preparing to join the Bored Ape Yacht Club. On January 3rd, BAYC member Lindsey Byrnes tweeted the picture of Bored Ape #3756 and said Madonna’s Web3 avatar would look fantastic with it. After fourteen days, Madonna responded to Byrnes’ recommendation with a question on how to move forward.
It’s interesting to note that Yuga Labs, the owner of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, is now officially represented by Guy Oseary, Madonna’s manager. Oseary has collaborated with notable NFT collections like the World of Women in addition to the BAYC (WoW).
The Women of Music NFT Collection
Speaking of WoW, Madonna recently made an appearance as a WoW-inspired avatar in Billboard’s “Women in Music” NFT series. This series of three unique NFTs created by WoW’s lead artist Yam Karkai were auctioned off on the cryptocurrency market FTX US. Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera were featured on the other two Billboard NFTs.
Madonna is not the only famous person to employ MoonPay’s service to increase her portfolio with a Bored Ape. Rappers like Snoop Dogg and Lil Baby have used MoonPay to purchase their BAYC NFTs. There are also claims that Tesla CEO Elon Musk used MoonPay to pay $1.5 million for the gold fur Bored Ape #1837.
