Reddit is now offering a new NFT-based avatar marketplace where you may pay a set amount to purchase blockchain-based profile photos. According to the firm, you may use a credit or debit card to purchase them and deposit them in Reddit’s wallet without having a cryptocurrency wallet.
The social network promised to produce 90 distinct designs and make “tens of thousands” of NFTs available for purchase during this early access period.
A limited-edition NFT from the company can be used as an avatar on and off of Reddit, according to the company. These don’t have the same range of applications as an NFT from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection by Yuga Labs, which enables you to create products or TV series based on the bored ape you own. Avatars can be customized using the avatar builder, and when you comment in a community, they take on a “glow-like aspect.”
Today is the first day that NFT avatars will be visible to visitors to the invite-only subreddit r/CollectibleAvatars. There will be blogs describing how the one-time profile photographs were created, instructions on how to set up a wallet, and unique “Ask Me Anything” sessions with artists. All NFTs are the same price because there are no auctions, and fiat currencies like US dollars can be used to purchase them. You can purchase one of these NFT avatars for $9.99, $24.99, $49.99, $79.99, or $99.99. If you are not a part of that group, the business announced that in the upcoming weeks everyone would be able to use its avatar maker website to obtain these collectible avatars.
